Job DescriptionLocation: Overseeing Multiple Sites in Brooklyn, the Bronx, and Manhattan
Our client is a growing New York-based property management firm seeking a Property Manager to oversee and maintain a portfolio of affordable housing properties across multiple sites.
Summary/Objective:
The Property Manager will engage directly with residents to handle a range of management responsibilities, including rent collection, lease administration, tenant relations, and ongoing property upkeep. The role also requires close coordination with maintenance staff and oversight of compliance with local housing regulations.
Classification: Exempt (not overtime eligible)
Essential Responsibilities:

Manage resident needs in accordance with Fair Housing guidelines.

Oversee daily operations across multiple properties, supervising both office and maintenance teams.

Coordinate and track work order requests in the property management system to ensure timely completion and resident satisfaction.

Ensure timely collection and processing of annual resident certifications.

Monitor and address building violations through compliance portals in coordination with maintenance and senior management.

Process move-in packages and assist with onboarding new residents.

Ensure common areas, offices, and vacant units are maintained to high standards and ready for occupancy.

Enforce lease terms and address lease violations, including non-payment and eviction proceedings in accordance with applicable laws.

Manage resident move-in and move-out processes, including conducting inspections and documenting damages or fees.

Maintain organized and accurate resident and property files.

Collect and process rents and other payments, monitor outstanding balances, and coordinate with legal counsel when necessary.

Conduct routine property inspections and support maintenance operations in partnership with on-site leadership.

Assist with annual unit inspections to ensure regulatory compliance.

Review, code, and approve vendor invoices in line with budgetary and operational standards.

Support senior management in preparing monthly financial variance reports.
Requirements:

At least 5 years of experience in property management, specifically within affordable housing programs (e.g., Section 8, LIHTC, Mitchell-Lama).

Strong understanding of local, state, and federal housing regulations.

Prior supervisory experience overseeing both administrative and maintenance personnel.

Experience with the annual certification process.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); Yardi experience is a plus.

Experience working with unionized staff is a plus.

Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred).

Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.

High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework preferred.
