Psychiatrist (Child and Adolescent) - New Grads Accepted
Location: Binghamton, NY
Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time

Job Summary:
The Psychiatrist is responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric care to youth residing in residential congregate care settings. This includes conducting psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing mental health conditions, developing individualized treatment plans, and prescribing and managing psychotropic medications.
Roles & Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments to evaluate the mental, emotional, and behavioral health needs of youth in care.

Diagnose psychiatric conditions and develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with the care team.

Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications to support youth stability and therapeutic progress.

Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate care with clinical staff, social workers, nurses, educators, and residential staff.

Provide crisis intervention support and psychiatric consultations for acute behavioral or emotional concerns.

Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory and agency standards.

Support trauma-informed, culturally competent care practices that promote emotional safety, resilience, and positive youth development.
Qualifications & Experience:

Completion of an ACGME-accredited psychiatry residency program required
-
Board Certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) required
-
Valid and unrestricted New York State medical license (or eligibility to obtain one prior to start date) required

Current DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances required
-
Certification in trauma-informed or evidence-based treatment models (e.g., TF-CBT, DBT) preferred

Experience of child and adolescent psychiatric disorders, trauma-informed care, and psychopharmacology.

Must be comfortable treating children ages 7-18 and collaborating with families.

Experience working with youth impacted by trauma, foster care, juvenile justice, or behavioral health systems is highly desirable.
