Job DescriptionOVERALL POSITION FUNCTION
Perform all tasks related to welding and fabrication of steel assemblies in a safe and efficient manner. Work is performed in a fast paced, custom manufacturing environment, working to Engineering Drawings and either standard or tailored welding procedures. Duties include welding, torch work, manual plasma cutting, metal grinding, rolling and bending, as dictated by each assembly. All work is done in accordance to documented procedures, work standards, industry practices, and the Company employee handbook.

SPECIFIC DUTIES/FUNCTIONAL TASKS
• Use of measuring equipment, and ability to measure accurately.
• Perform product specific math, and to read and interpret Engineering Drawings and written welding procedures.
• Setup and operate metal shears, hydraulic presses, saws, metal workers, and various rolling equipment to fabricate components as necessary. Know and use all equipment Lock out/Tag out procedures as required.
• Setup and use all plant welders and torches. Use of grinding equipment as needed, both as supplement to welding and in finishing other product.
• Ability to fabricate and weld all plate hooks in accordance with Samscreen procedures and common practice.
• Familiarity with all fabricated assemblies, and demonstrated ability to perform fabrication duties on any and all fabricated products.
• Ability to operate the plasma tables as detailed in the Plasma Table Operator job description.
• Documentation of quality inspection and labor records in accordance with procedures
• Ability to read and comprehend job traveller, with all specific and pertinent details for each production order
• Design, manufacture, and implement modifications to work holding methods to securely retain product through manufacturing operations.
• Recognition and selection of raw materials specific to product lines to meet customer requirements
• Maintenance of work area in a clean and orderly manner, relying heavily on 5S practices. Includes management of plate remnants and drops, and removal of slugs from the plasma table work area.
• Active involvement in safety inspections, walk throughs, and improvement projects
• Use skills to fabricate racks, tables, and fixturing as required in support of the balance of shop operations
• Will require fork truck and hoist operation, in compliance with Samscreen training and licensing standards
• Other duties as assigned to support production and facility goals

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITY
• Ability to comprehend engineering drawings, and understanding of cartesian coordinates, and work orientation in two dimensional (x/y) space
• Ability to use MIG welders, torches and hand tools to support production
• Ability to work both individually and as a part of a team
• Must be detail oriented, quality conscious, and willing to make decisions to support the organizations positive quality reputation
• Ability to learn and retain new tasks and operations, and step between various duties in the job description seamlessly.
• Welding certification, either through educational or previous employer, is preferred.

• Must have reliable transportation
• Must meet position overtime requirements as schedule demands
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The position works a 9 hour minimum day, 5 days per week, in a non-stationary shop environment. Duties involve standing and walking, and lifting product between 30 and 60 pounds. Fork trucks and hoists are integral parts of the job, and their use, inspection, and maintenance is required. Some work is performed at floor level, and bending and kneeling may be required.
