Short Description:
SMH – Level 1 RN Psych (Unit 3900) –
Rotating D/E/N shifts. Weekends, holidays, on-call, callback, and charge duties as needed per unit requirements.
Job Description & Duties
- Perform intake assessments through interviews with patients and family to gather case history.
- Provide comprehensive nursing care and develop nursing diagnoses for medical and emotional status.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists and behavioral health staff to design individualized treatment plans.
- Administer psychotropic medications and monitor/document patient reactions.
- Coordinate further medical attention as needed.
- Educate patients on emotional disturbances and treatment needs.
- Ensure a safe and secure environment for patients and staff.
- Assess and document vital signs, including pain assessment and pain management.
- Document all patient information accurately in medical charts and follow physician orders.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and compliance with standard medical recordkeeping.
- Complete administrative tasks including filing, phone coverage, typing, and electronic progress notes.
- Provide courteous, high-quality service to patients and visitors, ensuring appropriate responses and referrals.
Requirements
- Active NY RN License (Required)
- BLS (AHA Only)
- CPI Blue Card Certification
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience (Psych experience preferred)
