Hazen and Sawyer is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer to support the construction of water and wastewater treatment facilities and utilities located in the greater NYC Metro area. The selected candidate will manage the construction, coordination, documentation and inspection activities for various water and wastewater facilities.

Responsibilities include assisting project Resident Engineer in all aspects of construction project management including but not limited to the following:

  • Quality Review of CM team performance and deliverables
    • Adherence to contract documents and approved submittals
    • Quality review of Inspector Daily Reports
    • Quality of CM Administration
  • Documentation of project risks
  • Processing of contract invoices
  • Processing of shop drawings
  • Processing of RFIs
  • Processing of permits
  • Processing of change orders
  • Processing of subcontractor approvals
  • Management of project documentation tools, i.e. software
    • Management, Coordination and Integration with Operating Staff including Maintenance of Facility Operation
    • Management of Schedule
    • Tracking of Safety
    • Facilitating Project Closeout

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 5+ years experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management
  • Professional Registration (P.E. or E.I.T) preferred, not required, CCM (Certified Construction Manager) also preferred but not required.
  • Experience in construction management, construction inspection, and stakeholder coordination preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project and related PC software packages used on design and construction projects
