INFOTRAN is looking for mechanical inspector to support Boiler Replacement on a NYCHA project. The work elements include removal of several existing boilers, installation of new boilers, associated MEP work such as installation of pipes, valves, etc. Candidates must have the professional knowledge, skill and ability to independently interpret codes, rules, laws and policies to attain compliance and enforcement of the state adopted building codes and laws. The position is in NYC and will require significant time working in the field.


You will be inspecting various facets of work at our client jobsite and performing continuous surveillance of assigned inspection activities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and specifications, as well as ensuring construction compliance to all safety and quality procedures. You will be required to document any nonconformance and will recommend appropriate resolutions to any non-conformities. You will be required to supervise, inspect, and respond to Request for Information (RFIs), review documents and submittals for conformance to the NYCHA/DOB requirements, and coordinate and follow-up with the work they are assigned to with the client and INFOTRAN team.

Responsibilities

  • MEP Inspection- read and interpret plans and specifications and prepare written contract administration documentation, such as daily narratives (work reports), special inspection reports, daily time and material records, and document unit price work.is responsible for the coordination of all Project Management activities related to design, procurement, construction and closeout of the project(s)

  • Identify potential extra work issues and keep Project Manager advised of issues.

  • Review contractor payment requests and recommend reasonableness to the Project Manager. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written. Verbal communication includes with Project Manager, relative peer staff and facility staff both in person and via electronic communication.

  • Experience working in restricted areas and adhering to associated protocols a plus.


Qualifications

  • 5 to 10 years of construction experience on NYCHA projects in inspecting construction work varied in size and complexity (multiple crews and crew sizes per shift).

  • BS. in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related would-be a plus

  • Must have experience working with mechanical equipment and systems including boilers, pumps, piping, and/or related equipment.

  • Trained in minimum OSHA 30-hour construction safety

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by InfoTran’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • This role is subject to a client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests.
