SUMMARY:
Spector Musical Instruments is looking to hire a full-time Finisher to join the USA Custom Shop team in Shokan, NY. Spector Musical Instruments, located near the world-famous town of Woodstock, consists of a small team of skilled luthiers that handcraft some of the world’s finest instruments.
The role of Finisher may be tasked with the spraying, sanding, and/or buffing of all instruments produced in the USA shop. Types of spray finishes range from Polyester to Urethane, spraying both High Gloss and Matte variants of each. Many instruments are sprayed with a clear finish, however solid color, bursts, and metallic finishes will also be utilized.
Use of spray guns, orbital sanders, buffing wheels and hand sanding will be daily requirements. The role should be a person with great attention to detail, exacting standards, strong organizational skills, and communicates well while promoting a positive work environment.
ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Spraying & applying all types of finishes
• Use of UV Cure system
• Inner coat sanding
• Use of buffing wheel to achieve mirror high-gloss finish
• Maintaining cleanliness and operational standards of spray booth and related equipment
• Be in constant communication with team regarding best practices, defect prevention/repair
• Adhere to weekly schedule, organizing work accordingly to hit deadlines
• Additional responsibilities as assigned by management
REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS:
• 3-5 years of painting/finishing experience or equivalent training/education preferred
• Strong attention to detail
• Woodworking experience preferred
• Luthiery experience preferred
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of, and experience handling, musical instruments, specifically electric basses preferred
