Job Description

About Us: We are a fast-growing, high-caliber startup at the cutting edge of biology, nanotechnology, and advanced instrumentation. We partner with government agencies and industry leaders to create innovative, hands-on solutions that push the boundaries of experimental science and engineering.

Why Join Us?

  • Direct Impact: Work on high-stakes, cutting-edge projects with real-world applications.

  • High Ownership: See your ideas through from concept to execution.

  • Collaborative Environment: Work closely with a small, driven team of scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs.

  • Novel Technology: Build groundbreaking systems at the interface of hardware, software, and science.

  • Challenging Rewarding: Engage with complex problems, pushing technical boundaries.

What You'll Do:

  • Design, build, and execute experimental workflows in a lab setting.

  • Prototype unique hardware and nanotech systems that integrate biology, chemistry, and engineering.

  • Operate and interpret data from advanced instrumentation (e.g., AFM, SEM, FTIR).

  • Collaborate effectively with government and industry partners, clearly communicating technical findings.

  • Contribute to literature reviews and help shape our overall technical strategy.

What You'll Need (Required Qualifications):

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience as a "builder/hacker," demonstrating a strong ability to conceive and independently execute unique technical projects.

    • Examples of relevant projects include: scanning tunneling microscopy setups, artificial gills, or enzyme growth experiments.

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Chemistry (preferred), Biomedical Engineering, or demonstrated equivalent capability through independent work and foundational knowledge (formal degree not strictly required if capability is proven). Background from a top STEM school is strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated expertise in biology, nanotechnology, and chemistry, primarily through independent project work.

  • Strong foundation in experimental workflows, advanced instrumentation, and hands-on lab work.(Preference for hands-on over purely computational experience).

  • Ability to conduct thorough literature reviews, design robust experiments, and proficiently use lab equipment.

  • Clear, confident communication skills, as this role involves direct interaction with government clients and agencies.

  • Willingness to work long hours in-office as part of a small, mission-driven team dedicated to tackling challenging experimental work.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Hacker/Builder Mentality: You love to tinker, prototype, and push technical boundaries.

  • Experience with unique, self-directed projects showcasing your ingenuity.

  • Strong technical communication and client-facing abilities.

  • Possess grit, high energy, and genuine enthusiasm for challenging experimental work.

Work Environment:

  • This is an on-site, in-person role in our New York City office. Expect long hours as part of our dedicated team.
