Job Title: Contract Industrial Electrician (Travel + Per Diem)
Contract Duration: 4–6 Months (extensions possible)
Hours: 3:30pm – Midnight (2nd Shift)
Primary Worksite:
3100 Lake Shore Rd, Buffalo, NY 14219 (Lackawanna Facility)
Eligible Home Locations (must live 50+ miles away):
Rochester, NY • Batavia, NY • Jamestown, NY • Fredonia, NY • Dunkirk, NY • Erie, PA • Bradford, PA • Olean, NY • Syracuse outer region • Niagara County outer region
Employment Type: Contract (1099)
Compensation:
- $42–$50/hr (experience-based)
- $130/day tax-free per diem
About the Role
GTI Fabrication is hiring Contract Industrial Electricians to support wiring, electrical installation, conduit work, and troubleshooting for modular power and steel enclosure projects at our Lackawanna facility. These roles offer premium hourly pay, per diem, and consistent weekly hours for electricians living 50+ miles from Buffalo.
Per Diem Eligibility (Important)
Per IRS travel rules and contractor industry standards, a worker must live 50+ miles from the jobsite to receive tax-free per diem.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, and troubleshoot wiring, conduit, panels, and electrical equipment
- Bend conduit and install cable trays, motors, junction boxes, and power distribution systems
- Read electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, and wiring prints
- Test circuits using multimeters and diagnostic tools
- Support electrical integration within modular assemblies
- Ensure compliance with NEC codes and GTI electrical standards
- Document work, follow safety procedures, and maintain equipment
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years industrial or commercial electrical experience
- Skilled in conduit bending, panel wiring, and system installations
- Must supply basic tools, PPE, and multimeter
- Ability to read diagrams and electrical prints
- Must live 50+ miles outside Buffalo to qualify for per diem
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with modular construction or industrial fabrication
- Familiarity with 120V/240V/480V systems
- Strong troubleshooting experience
Compensation
- $42–$50/hr (experience-based)
- $130/day tax-free per diem
- 40+ hours/week, weekly pay
- Overtime available
