An exciting opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse with ICU experience to provide critical care in a specialized Intermediate Care Unit setting. This contract role is based in Rome, NY, offering the chance to work with a diverse patient population requiring advanced nursing skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care in a 64-bed IMCU unit, including 15 neuro-designated beds
- Manage patients with complex diagnoses such as neurological, cardiac, trauma, respiratory conditions, COPD, DKA, sepsis, MI, and post-operative care
- Utilize specialty equipment including temporary pacers, chest tubes, arterial lines, BiPAP, Neptune suction devices, and assist with ventilator-dependent patients alongside respiratory therapy
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Support unit operations through flexible scheduling and occasional floating as needed
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Active Registered Nurse license in New York State
- Minimum of 2 years experience working in IMCU, PCU, or comparable step-down critical care units
- Demonstrated travel nursing experience is required
- Current AHA certifications including BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Proven proficiency with electronic medical records, specifically EPIC
- Valid drivers license with demographic address alignment
- Ability to provide necessary documentation including NURSYS report, resume, and return-to-office details at submission
Schedule/Hours:
- 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM shifts, block scheduling not guaranteed
- Floating within the hospital as required
