Position Description:

Our Client a global supplier of electronics components and subassemblies, is seeking to fill a Senior Product Engineer role. This position is responsible for developing, configuring and qualifying new Fiber Optic Transceivers for the Data com/Data Center and telecom markets as well as maintaining technical support for existing products, this includes working with suppliers to make sure products meet their technical requirements. The qualified individual should have proven experience in configuring, programing and implementing Fiber Optic transceivers for Telecom Network and Datacenter markets. The Senior Product Engineer will deliver high-quality services to customers providing technical and solution-oriented support. This position reports to the Product Development Engineering Supervisor.

This is an opportunity for an ambitious and experienced Product Development Engineer to actively contribute to the growth of the Fiber Optic transceiver business in the Datacenters market and have a strong impact to the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage market-driven new product development of Fiber Optic transceivers.
  • Program and configure new FO transceiver products to customer specifications.
  • Work closely with suppliers to source new FO transceivers.
  • Provide technical training and support for new hires in the Product Development Engineering team.
  • Support Marketing thru the development of technical product roadmaps.
  • Work with customers on project-oriented solutions.
  • Develop relationships with key customers to understand their development projects plan and have FO transceiver products ready on time for qualification.
  • Assist sales for technical questions on customer calls and site visits.
  • Stay current with new technologies in the fiber optics industry.
  • Create and maintain technical requirement documents for customers and suppliers.
  • Troubleshoot Fiber Optic transceiver product issues and work with the suppliers to resolve them.
  • Create transceiver coding bin files and maintaining the product database.
  • Develop a strong relationship with sales team to increase support for key customers.
  • Ownership of lab maintenance and development plan to support new product development.
  • Lead Engineering team in identifying areas for improvements and standardization.
  • Ownership of the Engineering data sheet creation and maintenance process.
  • Write technical reports and develop charts, graphs, and schematics to illustrate operating characteristics for consideration by customer engineers in broader determinations affecting product usage .

Key Requirements

  • AA/AS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 5 years min. experience in configuring Fiber Optic transceivers including OEM platform requirements.
  • 5 years min. experience with networking platforms: Cisco, Arista, Juniper, Nokia/Alcatel.
  • Experience using electronic test equipment.
  • Telecom network and / or datacenter experience, with network certification (CCNA, JNCIA-Junos, etc.) would be a plus.
  • Customer facing technical and / or sales support experience.
  • Microcontroller programming.
  • Experience with printed circuit boards.
  • Be able to read and understand technical drawings, datasheets, and written work instructions.

Preferred Requirements

· BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. · PON experience. · Semiconductor exposure. · Experience in developing and maintaining Fiber Optic transceiver roadmap. · Market pricing.
