Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Vacuum Atomization Furnace Operator to join our team. This role involves performing various cleaning, monitoring, and securing operations to assist in the setup and maintenance of a vacuum atomization furnace. You will work from verbal and written instructions to perform repetitive tasks before, after, and during the atomization process.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various cleaning, monitoring, and securing operations for the setup of a vacuum atomization furnace.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions to perform repetitive tasks during the atomization process.
  • Assist in preparing raw material charges and running the furnace control board.
  • Make minor repairs on the furnace, atomization chamber, and other auxiliary equipment.
  • Carry out housekeeping duties and assist in the removal and replacement of the furnace lid and coils.
  • Clean the interior of the furnace chamber and 'O' ring seal.
  • Transport cleaned raw material charge to the charge area.
  • Assist in the attachment and detachment of gas, electric, and water lines to the furnace lid and tank.
  • Utilize electric hoist to remove and replace furnace lid from furnace chamber.
  • Clean inside of crucibles, patch cracks, and perform other repair tasks prior to the next run.
  • Adhere to CORE guidelines and perform CORE duties as required.
  • Follow all EH&S guidelines, including wearing required personal protective equipment such as a respirator and mask.
  • Carry out additional tasks as required to support department objectives and develop skills.
  • Work overtime when needed.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in a production setting working with machines as a general production worker, machine operator, or plant laborer.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs on a regular basis.
  • Reliable transportation to ensure timely arrival at work each day.
  • Skills in machine operation, general production, and repair.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • U.S. Person or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations.
  • Ability to work from heights up to 60 feet.
  • Capability to wear a respirator.
  • Physically capable of bending, lifting, squatting, twisting, overhead reaching, standing for long periods (up to 8 hours), climbing stairs, and lifting up to 25 lbs independently.

Work Environment

The position is on the 8th shift, Monday through Thursday, working 10 pm to 8 am with a 10% shift differential. This role requires adherence to safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment. The environment is physically demanding, requiring the ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Clayville, New York.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr.
