Location: 56-45 Main Street, Flushing, NY 11355.
Pay Range: $23 per hour to $25 per hour
Shift: Days, Monday to Friday(Day shifts, 8 am – 4 pm)
Duration: 03 Months (Contract) with a possible extension.
Job description
Pride Health is hiring a Medical Assistant to support our client’s medical facility based in Flushing, NY 11355. This is a 3-month assignment with the possibility of a contract-to-hire opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support:
- Perform venipuncture, EKGs, and point-of-care testing as needed.
- Assist in patient intake and flow; escort patients to exam rooms.
- Support patients with mobility, dressing, and preparation for examination.
- Set up rooms and instruments using proper sterilization techniques.
- Assist physicians with exams and medical procedures.
- Relay physician instructions to patients and families.
- Maintain logs for medication refrigeration, sterilization, crash cart checks, etc.
- Monitor and dispose of expired medications and supplies per policy.
- Adhere to infection control and safety protocols.
Administrative/Clerical Duties:
- Enter orders and prepare prescription refill requests in EMR.
- Schedule patient appointments, surgeries, and procedures.
- Obtain and manage medical records, lab reports, referrals, and other documentation.
- Complete insurance verification, pre-certifications, and update patient demographics.
- Maintain medical charts and ensure proper documentation and filing.
Inventory and Equipment:
- Monitor, order, and restock medical supplies as needed.
- Maintain and verify equipment and emergency supplies are ready and compliant.
Work Environment:
- General office and clinical environment.
- Light physical activity required; may involve some walking, transferring, and patient assistance.
- May involve exposure to infectious materials, hazardous substances, or radiation (with proper PPE provided).
Education and Certifications:
- Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Completion of an approved Medical Assistant certificate course.
- BLS Certification (AHA).
- Preferred:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA).
- Phlebotomy certification.
