About the Role
We’re hiring a Lead Carpenter (Working Foreman) to run small crews and perform hands-on carpentry. You’ll set the pace on site, coordinate daily tasks, and ensure quality, safety, and productivity. Long-term role with steady hours and growth potential.
What You’ll Do
- Lead & Coordinate
- Run daily huddles; assign tasks to laborers and helpers.
- Read drawings/specs; perform layout, verify dimensions, and plan work sequences.
- Coordinate with PMs/superintendents, subs, and deliveries; maintain site logistics.
- Enforce safety (JHAs, PPE, housekeeping) and site standards; complete daily reports.
- Carpentry (Hands-On)
- Rough carpentry: framing, blocking, backing, temporary protections, forms/shoring.
- Finish carpentry: trim, doors/frames/hardware, cabinets, casework, millwork installs.
- Set and plumb walls, install sheathing, subfloors, windows, stairs/rails as needed.
- Scaffold and temporary structure builds/demobilizations (scaffold cert a plus).
- Site Support
- Material takeoffs; order/pick up materials; stage tools and equipment.
- Quality control, punch-lists, and closeout support.
- Mentor/train junior crew members on tools, methods, and safety.
Must-Haves
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Effective English communication for safety briefings, written instructions, and radio calls.
- OSHA 10 required (provide card); OSHA 30 a plus.
- 3–5+ years professional carpentry experience, including leading small crews.
- Can regularly lift 25–50 lbs, work at heights/ladders/scaffolds, and outdoors in all weather.
- On time, follows directions, thinks on their feet, and models safe, positive behavior.
- Comfortable with hard, dirty work and full PPE (hard hat, hi-vis, boots, gloves, eye/ear protection).
Nice to Have
- Scaffold user certification; telehandler/forklift; First Aid/CPR; fall-protection training.
- Laser level/layout skills, door & hardware experience, drywall backing, concrete forms.
- Basic digital reporting (photos, daily logs).
