Job Description
Job DescriptionSalary: $85,000-$100,000+ depending on experience
Description:
Licensed nurse practitioners (family nurse practitioners or women's health nurse practitioners) in the community birth setting care for clients during the course of prenatal, postpartum, and newborn care as dictated by their scope of practice and training. Additionally, nurse practitioners provide inclusive well-person care, comprehensive family planning services, support shared decision-making, and participate in quality assurance functions in accordance with practice policies and accreditation standards as dictated by the Commission for Accreditation of Birth Centers (CABC).
The full-time nurse practitioner will have two (2) nine-hour office days and four (4) additional 12-hour call shifts each week, including rotating weekend call. The nurse practitioner will be utilized as a birth assistant (RN) for on-call duties, which include attending births and initial postpartum visits under the supervision of a licensed midwife. Although this position involves significant call, the nurse practitioner can expect to attend an average of approximately four to six (4-6) eight (8)-hour labors per month.
The part-time nurse practitioner may have a schedule mutually decided by the nurse practitioner and the practice. Examples of custom schedules include hourly office-only positions (one to two nine-hour office days per week) or a blend of office hours and call that is less than the aforementioned full-time position.
Our birth center is committed to addressing inequities in healthcare for marginalized peopleincluding but not limited to people of color and LGBTQAI+ people. Because we believe firmly these communities must be centered in the work we do, we strongly encourage applications from people with these identities or members of other marginalized communities to apply, even if they do not have experience providing care in the community birth setting. We value new graduate midwives and will offer appropriate compensation, even when a prolonged orientation period is required.
