Allient Inc. is in growth mode and currently seeking a Engineering Lab Technician to join our team at our Corporate Headquarters in Buffalo, NY! The Engineering Lab Technician performs technical engineering tasks in laboratory setting including conducting tests for products which contributes to the planning and execution of engineering projects in a production and development environments. He/she is in charge of gathering data, keeping accurate information, correct filing for records and ensuring that all operations adhere to both company and government regulations. Apply now!
Responsibilities:
• Works in direct support of engineers, utilizing theoretical knowledge of fundamental scientific, engineering, mathematical or draft design principles.
• Perform analyses and statistical comparisons of results to contribute to technical and product innovation
• Compile and analyze data for personal and team analyses
• Solves practical problems encountered using engineering principles in solving design, development and modification problems of parts or assemblies for products or systems.
• Performs engineering tests according to prescribed standards set by engineering including testing of compounds, product, or batches for defined metrics and contaminants
• Sets up, adjusts and operates engineering equipment, such as dynamometers, temperature recorder, tachometer, volt, ampere meters and other testing equipment.
• Uses measuring instruments, such as micrometers, verniers, dial indicators and other measuring devices for dimensional verification.
• Fabricates and fits mechanical parts of motors and electromechanical devices.
• Full understanding, operation and connection of various power supplies is required to run performance curves, temperature or life tests.
• Disassembles, assembles and tests competitive products required for comparative design information. Assembles prototypes as necessary to blue print specifications.
• Maintain, operate, and calibrate laboratory equipment, including necessary supplies
Minimum Qualifications:
• Associate’s degree in an engineering field or another comparable field.
• 0 - 5 years of related work experience in a manufacturing company
• Must be able to read blueprints to interpret requirements for manufacture, testing or assembly of parts; do horsepower
calculations and performance curves and keep work areas clean and neat.
• Solid computer skills include MS Office, engineering design software such as Solidworks
Physical Demands:
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or
feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
• The position may operate in an office environment, development lab and production floor.
• While on the production floor, employee will be required to wear PPE such as safety glasses.
