Job Description

Objective: Provide leadership and engineering support to manufacturing operations. Design tools; develop and validate

processes; develop and manage product and process cost; provide technical support to sales and the outside

customer; identify and manage the introduction of new technology; maintain, troubleshoot and improve

existing processes; support safety, quality, delivery and cost of the entire operation. Manage the more

complex technical projects from inception through completion. Mentor less experienced engineers.

Minimum Requirements:

10+ years of experience in a related technical position in a design or manufacturing environment

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other related field

Solid modeling experience using Solid Works, Pro E, Inventor, or equivalent

Demonstrated experience managing all phases of more complex technical projects

Demonstrated safety, quality, delivery and cost experience supporting manufacturing operations


Job Requirements:

Strong math, reasoning and problem solving skills

Hands on experience with solid modeling for tool and fixture design

Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

Experience with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint

Maintaining a presence at both the Buffalo, NY and Erie, PA sites, as required, by the work they are assigned

Product cost development in support of the quoting process

Routing development and maintenance in MRP

Development of detailed work instructions

Product cost development and maintenance through time studies (labor), BOM content (material) and overhead rates

Continuous improvement of products and processes

Cost reduction of products and processes

Statistical analysis - Minitab experience preferred

Lead and manage prototype builds

Equipment/ technology design in support of operations

Experience working within and adhering to a Quality Management System such as IATF16949 and ISO 9001

The ability to work with people at all levels of the organization and across all functions

Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as; tube forming, brazing, welding; milling, and turning

Strong organizational and communication skills to include customer engagement, sales support and presentations

Implementation of Lean Manufacturing Principles

Management of all aspects of technical projects from inception to production qualification

Procurement of new capital equipment to include Return on Investment (ROI) analysis

Execution of work assignments with minimal follow-up supervision

Mentoring of less experienced engineers


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Execute Engineering assignments to support new product introductions and steady state manufacturing

Provide daily technical support to operations to include problem solving

Manage the product life cycle (design through production qualification) for all fixtures and tools

Manage all design changes into production

Manage/ lead the ECN process

Technical support to quality

Develop and manage equipment validations

Develop training for operators for new and existing equipment

Develop manufacturing processes that are safe, provide superior product quality, and are cost effective

Identify and execute on cost reduction opportunities

Identify and execute on manufacturing process improvement opportunities related to safety, quality, delivery and

cost

Lead and manage prototype builds

Technical support to sales during customer engagement for new products, quality issues, etc.

Prepare capital expenditure proposals

Become the subject matter expert for all production equipment and technologies

Understand and implement Lean Manufacturing principles

Develop and maintain the plant layout to ensure operations safety, quality, delivery and cost optimization

Develop and maintain design standards and best practices

Technical support to sales during customer engagements to include presentations, sales calls/ visits, etc.


Pay Range: $90,000-115,000.

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for extended periods, use hands to operate a computer and other office equipment, and communicate effectively via phone and email.
