A fast-growing, sustainable seafood restaurant in New York City is seeking a hands-on and enthusiastic Assistant General Manager (AGM) to support daily operations and uphold high standards of service, quality, and hospitality. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, a guest-first mindset, and a passion for sustainability and team development.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the General Manager in overseeing day-to-day restaurant operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service
  • Lead and supervise front-of-house team members, fostering a positive work environment and delivering exceptional guest experiences
  • Assist with hiring, training, coaching, and performance management to build and retain a high-performing team
  • Monitor labor, inventory, and food costs to support profitability goals and operational efficiency
  • Ensure adherence to all food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards
  • Handle guest concerns with professionalism, turning challenges into positive experiences
  • Participate in scheduling, shift planning, and daily execution of opening and closing procedures
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to maintain product quality, consistency, and timeliness
  • Support marketing and community outreach efforts to drive traffic and brand awareness
  • Serve as acting manager on duty in the absence of the General Manager

Qualifications:

  • 2–4 years of restaurant management or supervisory experience, preferably in a fast-casual or seafood-focused environment
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to manage operations in a high-volume, fast-paced setting
  • Knowledge of food safety protocols and labor compliance standards
  • Guest-focused attitude with a genuine passion for hospitality and service excellence
  • Flexible schedule including availability on nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Interest in sustainable food systems and local sourcing is a plus
