Purpose: To teach and direct Greenwood’s choral pieces during Sunday worship, in order to glorify God and support the growth of Greenwood’s vocalists

Hours: 11 hours per month, to be worked across one Sunday, two rehearsals, and preparation and administrative work. Hourly breakdown is as follows: 2 for each rehearsal (4 total), 3 for each Sunday (3 total), and 4 for preparation and administration.

Description:

1. Lead one choral piece during one Sunday worship service per month. Sunday responsibilities will include sound check and warm-up, and will total approximately 3 hours.

2. Lead the choral portion of weekly rehearsals at least twice a month, in conjunction with Music Director. Currently, rehearsals are held Tuesday evenings at 7pm.

3. Recruit and build rapport with choir members to encourage an environment of camaraderie, positivity and growth.

4. Maintain communication with the Music Director to provide selection information.

5. Encourage other vocalists and instrumentalists in the congregation and larger community to participate in choir.

6. Assist as needed with special services including Christmas Eve, Good Friday, homegoing services, etc.

7. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

1. Ability to lead choral pieces with multiple parts, using sheet music.

2. Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience required, concentration in music or related field preferred.

3. Minimum of 1 year experience leading worship in a congregation.

4. Knowledge of traditional sacred music and hymns. Familiarity with contemporary, gospel, and praise & worship genres is encouraged.

5. Vibrant faith, commitment to Greenwood’s values, and excitement about worship.

6. Ability to work well with church staff and leadership.

7. Ability to recruit, develop, and minister to volunteers.

8. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and high level of emotional intelligence.

9. Ability to work well with a diverse group of congregants, musicians and singers of all ages.

10. Demonstrated vocal abilities as well as skills on keyboards. Other musical skills are also welcome.
