Job Summary
The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for responsible for the general maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, equipment and grounds.
Essential Functions
- Janitorial Duties - Dusting, stripping, scrubbing, sealing and buffing floors; cleaning carpets as needed; sweeping, mopping dusting and vacuuming offices, hallways and entrances; polishing furniture, fixtures and/or trimmings; using appropriate solutions to clean/ wash fixtures and restrooms; gathering and disposing of trash; washing and relining waste containers; noting and reporting items needing repair and hazardous conditions requiring correction; responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Agency; working in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices; other duties as assigned or required
- Landscaping and Snow Removal: Spring fall and winter cleaning, operating lawn and snow equipment, General Maintenance of property
- Carpentry - Performing basic and finished carpentry work, repairing structures such as partitions, walls, doors, fences, window frames, office furniture, and shelves
- Electrical - Performing basic electrical installation and repair work in wiring for switches, outlets, plugs, cables, power circuits and appliances; repairing lighting systems; inspecting electrical systems for unsafe conditions.
- Plumbing/Painting: Identifying and performing basic repairs of plumbing leaks or breaks; opening clogged lines and drains; replacing washers and other minor parts; maintaining and monitoring septic system; applying and preparing various surfaces for paint, enamel, lacquer, varnish, or stain; repairing wall coverings.
Minimum Requirements
- 3 to 5 years in Building Maintenance field
- Self-motivated and organized
- Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends if needed due to inclement weather
- Available to work Monday through Friday from 10:00am to 4:00pm
Salary: $18.00 - $19.25 an hour (25-hour workweek)
