Project Title: Engineering Project Manager
Location: Must sit within the state of NY or NJ
Duration: 5-Month Contract - potential to extend up to 2 years!
Travel: 75%
Compensation: $50-$60/Hour
Job Description: A client in the retail sector is looking for Project Managers to help transition manual systems in warehouses and delivery centers to automated systems, enhancing speed, safety, and efficiency. We need hands-on technical engineering project managers who are willing to be deeply involved and work onsite. This role involves being in the field 75% of the time, executing projects. Each project includes 2 weeks of fieldwork and 4 weeks of preparation, involving planning and coordination with procurement, supply chain, installation vendors, safety, and operations teams. Projects typically last 4-6 weeks, with each project manager handling 2-3 projects simultaneously. More complex projects may extend to 2-3 months. The ideal candidate will support the commissioning of automation systems, review specifications, and ensure third-party vendors adhere to installation guidelines. The role requires an engineering background in automation, controls, industrial, or electrical work, with similar project management experience. The schedule generally includes travel from Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work if needed to resolve issues. All expenses are reimbursable.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- Engineering experience, particularly in controls, industrial, or electrical fields
- Proven track record in managing large-scale projects
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills to drive progress effectively
- Quick learner of new technologies
- Adaptable to change and innovation
Preferred Qualifications:
- PMP certification
- Experience with conveyor systems
