C.H. Thompson is currently seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Painter's Apprentice to join our metal finishing team. This is an entry-level position designed to provide hands-on training and experience in all aspects of industrial painting. The ideal candidate is a quick learner with a strong work ethic, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to safety. Under the direct supervision of experienced painters, the apprentice will assist with surface preparation, coating application, and site cleanup while learning the trade.

Position Overview
- Assist in the preparation of surfaces for painting, including cleaning, degreasing, sanding, and sandblasting.
- Learn and practice proper techniques for using various tools such as grinders and sandblasting equipment.
- Mask and protect adjacent surfaces from paint and overspray.
- Mix and prepare coatings and paints according to manufacturer specifications.
- Read work orders to determine how to place or hang metal parts on racks or hooks to prepare them for wet paint.
- Unracking parts after processing.
- Adherence to standard work, training guides, and procedures to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Routine maintenance and cleaning of spray guns, paint booths and related equipment.
- Reporting of any inconsistencies or defects in material, product, or equipment.
- Fostering a positive work environment by collaborating effectively with co-workers, and management.
- Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn new skills and techniques.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Comfortable with physical tasks including lifting, standing, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and reaching.
- Demonstrates a strong quality mindset, with attention to detail and commitment to meeting standards.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with co-workers and supervisors.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Willingness to work overtime as required.
Shift Hours:
- Monday - Thursday 6:30am - 3:30pm, Friday 6:30am-12:30pm
Total Compensation Package:
- Wage
- $17.50-$18.00 per hour plus a 90-Day Review for a prospective increase (compensation depends on the selected candidate's experience).
