Location: Hauppauge, NY
Employment Type: Full-Time,
Work Hours: General Shift – 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (May vary depending on business needs)

Position Overview:

The Chemist is an individual contributor role responsible for performing testing and analysis of samples using various techniques and equipment within the Quality Control laboratory. This role may be further tailored depending on department needs and the individual’s level of experience, training, and educational background.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Routine Testing: Perform standard testing or analysis within a specific department or group.

  • Advanced Testing: Conduct more complex or critical testing as required.

  • Equipment Operation: Operate specialized instruments and equipment such as Karl Fischer, HPLC, GC, Particle Size, and ICP.

  • Raw Materials Testing: Demonstrate working knowledge in raw materials testing and release.

  • Investigation Activities: Lead and contribute to investigation activities related to non-conformances or laboratory issues.

  • Compliance Documentation: Ensure compliance with data integrity standards, cGMP practices, and good documentation practices.

  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or Section Head.

Education Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (BS or BA) in Chemistry, Physical Sciences, or a related field (Required).

  • Technical Skills:

    • Working knowledge of instruments such as Karl Fischer, HPLC, GC, ICP, and Particle Size Analysis.

    • Experience with Inhalation Products (DPI) is a plus.

    • Strong knowledge of raw materials testing and release procedures.

  • Communication Skills:

    • Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating scientific work in English.

  • Software Skills:

    • Experience with Microsoft Office and scientific software applications.

Preferred Skills Experience:

  • Experience in Inhalation Products (MDI) is a plus.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze and understand complex data sets.

Working Conditions:

  • This role operates in a cGMP laboratory or manufacturing environment, requiring personal protective equipment (PPE) such as lab coats, safety glasses, and hearing protection.

  • The role may involve handling solvents, powders, and other materials commonly used in pharmaceutical settings.

  • Shifts may vary and include day, evening, or night shifts, depending on the business requirements.

  • Weekend or holiday work may be required based on business needs.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand or walk unassisted for 75% or more of an 8-hour workday.

  • Ability to lift up to 10 kg unassisted.

  • Must be able to wear appropriate PPE at all times when required.

  • Sitting at a desk and/or working at a computer or screen for 75% or more of an 8-hour period.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work in a pharmaceutical packaging setting.

  • Must be flexible with shift schedules, ranging from first or second shift, and available for weekends when required by business needs.

  • No remote work is available for this position.
