A multi-discipline engineering firm with over 70 years in business is looking for a Traffic Engineer for their Huntington, New York office!
Responsibilities:
- Prepare traffic impact/parking studies including the review of site plans for traffic safety issues and parking facilities for local zoning conformance
- Coordinate/perform the planning, analysis, design, and permitting tasks for traffic/transportation engineering, land development, and master planning projects
- Analyze signals, signing, and pavement markings
- Deliver tasks/projects on time within guidelines and schedules
- Complete progress reports as needed
- Draft/prepare traffic impact reports
- Manage relationships, both internal and external
- Travel to field/client visits in NY metro area
- Work independently and prepare expert reports summarizing findings, using accepted engineering principles, prepare for EBT’s, and hearing/trial testimony
Requirements:
- B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering
- 5+ years of traffic engineering experience (road, intersection, and overall infrastructure design
- PE License in New York
- Auto CAD knowledge
- Strong knowledge of NYSDOT Highway Design Manual
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Highway Capacity Manual (HCM), Synchro, MUTCD, ITE Traffic Engineering Handbook, ITE Parking Generation, ITE Trip Generation, and AASHTO
- Ability to read/comprehend roadway plans and contracts
- Traffic signal design experience preferred
- Nassau-Suffolk County experience preferred
Salary is commensurate with experience.
