Insero Talent Solutions is thrilled to partner with a respected and growing family law practice in Rochester, NY to hire a Family & Matrimonial Paralegal. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in family and/or matrimonial litigation, trusts & estates, or a related practice area. This role is ideal for a paralegal who thrives in a people-centered practice, has strong organizational skills, and is eager to continue building both technical and client-facing expertise. The attorneys are open to training and mentorship for the right candidate.
Responsibilities:
- Support attorneys with all aspects of family and matrimonial law matters, including contested and uncontested divorce, custody, support, separation agreements, and related filings.
- Draft, revise, and proofread legal documents, affidavits, motions, discovery responses, and correspondence.
- Gather, organize, and maintain case files, financial statements, court documents, and client records.
- Assist with discovery management: document organization, deadlines, calendars, and disclosures.
- Communicate with clients, courts, and opposing counsel with professionalism and compassion.
- Prepare and manage case timelines, docketing, and deadlines to ensure timely filings.
- Conduct basic legal research and support attorneys in trial preparation and settlement negotiations.
- Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing updates, answering questions, and helping navigate emotionally sensitive matters.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in family law, matrimonial litigation, trusts & estates, or related practice (firm is open to training motivated candidates with adjacent experience).
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills — ability to support clients with empathy, patience, and professionalism.
- Strong writing, proofreading, and document drafting ability.
- Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage competing deadlines and maintain meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with legal case management software a plus.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving practice while collaborating closely with attorneys.
