Job Description

Family & Matrimonial Paralegal
Rochester, New York

Insero Talent Solutions is thrilled to partner with a respected and growing family law practice in Rochester, NY to hire a Family & Matrimonial Paralegal. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in family and/or matrimonial litigation, trusts & estates, or a related practice area. The firm is highly collaborative, flexible, and committed to investing in the long-term professional development of its team members.

This role is ideal for a paralegal who thrives in a people-centered practice, has strong organizational skills, and is eager to continue building both technical and client-facing expertise. The attorneys are open to training and mentorship for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Support attorneys with all aspects of family and matrimonial law matters, including contested and uncontested divorce, custody, support, separation agreements, and related filings.
  • Draft, revise, and proofread legal documents, affidavits, motions, discovery responses, and correspondence.
  • Gather, organize, and maintain case files, financial statements, court documents, and client records.
  • Assist with discovery management: document organization, deadlines, calendars, and disclosures.
  • Communicate with clients, courts, and opposing counsel with professionalism and compassion.
  • Prepare and manage case timelines, docketing, and deadlines to ensure timely filings.
  • Conduct basic legal research and support attorneys in trial preparation and settlement negotiations.
  • Serve as a point of contact for clients, providing updates, answering questions, and helping navigate emotionally sensitive matters.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in family law, matrimonial litigation, trusts & estates, or related practice (firm is open to training motivated candidates with adjacent experience).
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills — ability to support clients with empathy, patience, and professionalism.
  • Strong writing, proofreading, and document drafting ability.
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage competing deadlines and maintain meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with legal case management software a plus.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving practice while collaborating closely with attorneys.
