Perplexity is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Sonar engineering team – groundbreaking, AI-powered search API that's fueling one of Perplexity's fastest-growing revenue streams. Responsibilities
- Provide engineering leadership across multiple layers of a rapidly growing product.
- Set standards for reliability, code quality, testing, and maintenance.
- Oversee onboarding and ensure code quality for a growing team.
- Collaborate closely with AI research and Search teams.
- Develop rigorous interview pipelines and work closely with recruiting to source candidates.
Qualifications
- Ability to design reusable and scalable systems and processes.
- Ability to constructively identify technical debt.
- Ability to cleanly resolve engineering blockers.
- Strong organizational skills for managing and delivering parallel technical projects.
- Experience working with multiple small teams of engineers.
- Experience leveraging the right combination of open source and in-house solutions.
- Familiarity with AI/ML capabilities and limitations.
- 8+ years of engineering experience.
- 4+ years of engineering management experience.
Preferred
- Experience with building public API products.
Our cash compensation range for this role is $250,000 - $300,000.
Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including, experience and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed above.
Equity: In addition to the base salary, equity may be part of the total compensation package.
