Job DescriptionDescriptionRecreational Swim Team in lower Manhattan is seeking an experienced Swim Instructor/Coach to join our team. We have a unique coaching philosophy emphasizing team spirit, personal goal-setting, and the holistic development of our student swimmers.
We are not part of a league and do not compete against other teams, but do hold intra-team swim meets to showcase progress for family and friends. The ideal candidate would be confident coaching swimmers of various abilities from 1st through 8th grades and have a child-centered approach to coaching.

Key Responsibilities
- Work as part of a coaching team to coordinate workouts for swimmers of varied levels.
- Be a positive role model for young swimmers and display passion for swimming and coaching.
- Develop positive, productive relationships with participants and their families.
- Ensure safety of students during all activities.
- Provide in-water assistance for younger swimmers, as appropriate.
Qualified candidates will be punctual, reliable, personable, organized and fun. The right candidate will love, understand, nurture, support, accept all children, and be open to personal growth and accepting and applying daily feedback.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Practice Schedule: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from roughly 5:45–8pm (must be available for a minimum of 2 practice days each week)
- Swim Meets and/or Stroke Clinics on Fridays or Saturdays, scheduled 2-3 times per semester
- Attendance at team parties and events, a few times per year as scheduled
- Participation in evening monthly meetings with the coaching staff and aquatics leadership
- Additional hours teaching lessons for our Learn-to-Swim program may be available and can be discussed in interview.
