Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Bilingual Phlebotomist with over two years of recent experience in phlebotomy. The ideal candidate will be proficient with straight needles and comfortable performing venipunctures independently from day one. Strong communication skills, reliability, and punctuality are essential. Fluency in both Spanish and English is required.
Responsibilities
- Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens.
- Record maintenance data and decontaminate equipment.
- Update patient information accurately.
- Collect and store specimens following established procedures.
- Clearly explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection methods.
- Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles.
- Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
- Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
- Ensure accuracy by checking test requisitions against scripts.
- Package specimens for transport.
- Store specimen samples at required temperatures in appropriate containers.
- Accurately label specimens and follow protocols for transport to maintain specimen integrity.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 2 years' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Specimen collection expertise.
- Phlebotomy skills.
- Ability to perform blood draws and venipunctures confidently.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bilingual in Spanish and English.
- Strong communication skills.
- Reliability and punctuality.
Work Environment
Work takes place Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays, from 9am to 5pm at our Burnside Bronx location. The setting is a fast-paced lab or hospital environment.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bronx, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $23.00/hr.
