Job DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced Medical Billing Specialist to join our team in Syracuse, New York. In this Contract-to-Permanent position, you will play a vital role in managing billing processes for Home Health Care services, ensuring accuracy in claims submission and payment processing. Candidates should possess a strong background in accounts receivable management and electronic claims systems, coupled with exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:
• Review and verify claims for accuracy and completeness, correcting any missing or incorrect details related to Home Health Care billing.
• Prepare and submit claims and invoices to payors or clients in accordance with established billing schedules.
• Conduct timely follow-up on outstanding claims and invoices to optimize revenue collection.
• Investigate and appeal unpaid claims as needed to ensure maximum reimbursement.
• Post payments with a high degree of accuracy and within specified timelines.
• Utilize electronic billing systems, including Waystar, to manage claims efficiently and address billing exceptions.
• Communicate billing issues, payment discrepancies, and collection challenges to the Billing Manager promptly.
• Leverage agency IT systems to streamline work processes and meet job requirements.
• Participate in meetings and training sessions to stay updated on industry standards and practices.
• Ensure compliance with payor filing requirements to maintain timely and accurate billing.• Minimum of two years' experience in medical billing within the healthcare industry, with a preference for Home Care expertise.
• Familiarity with agency policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to compliance standards.
• Advanced computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and various healthcare software applications.
• Proven ability to analyze and resolve issues efficiently, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.
• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively, adapting to shifting priorities and deadlines.
• Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Physical ability to perform duties involving extended periods of computer use and occasional lifting of objects up to 40 pounds.
