Reports to: Principal, Sisulu-Walker Charter School of Harlem

Sisulu-Walker Charter School of Harlem—New York State’s first charter school—serves grades K–5 with a mission grounded in academic excellence, character development, and deep community engagement. As the school strengthens its visibility and enrollment strategy, we are hiring our first dedicated marketing and enrollment leader.

About the Role

The Director of Marketing & Enrollment Strategy is a part-time (20–25 hours/week), hybrid contract-to-hire role requiring three days per week on-site at the school. This position leads marketing, communications, and enrollment strategy while working closely with school leadership, staff, and community partners to drive awareness and achieve full enrollment.

Key ResponsibilitiesMarketing, Brand & Digital Strategy

  • Develop and articulate the school’s value proposition and brand messaging.

  • Lead integrated marketing across website, email, social media, community outreach, and local advertising.

  • Refresh and manage the school website.

  • Create engaging content across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube, including short-form video.

  • Collaborate with school personnel to source, capture, and publish authentic content from classrooms and events.

Enrollment Strategy & Execution

  • Oversee and support the full enrollment funnel, from awareness to confirmed enrollment.

  • Ensure timely follow-up with prospective families, including inquiry response, application support, and pre-lottery engagement.

  • Coordinate enrollment and lottery communications in partnership with school operations, ensuring compliance with NYSED/NYCDOE charter enrollment requirements.

  • Support open houses, tours, family info sessions, and community-based enrollment events.

  • Build and sustain enrollment pipelines through partnerships with Harlem-based organizations and early childhood centers.

Analytics & Reporting

  • Track KPIs related to awareness, inquiries, applications, and enrollment conversion.

  • Provide monthly updates to the Principal and Board of Trustees.

Year-1 Success Indicators

  • Achieving full enrollment by the start of the academic year.

  • Increasing the volume and quality of inquiries and completed applications.

  • Establishing a sustainable enrollment pipeline through community partnerships and outreach.

  • Launching consistent, high-quality digital and social media content that strengthens brand visibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Education, or a related field.

  • 5–8+ years of marketing experience, preferably in education or youth-focused organizations.

  • Demonstrated experience with enrollment marketing, content strategy, and community engagement.

  • Strong writing, storytelling, and project management skills.

  • Ability to work three days per week on-site in Harlem.

Compensation

$75,000–$90,000 annually, contract-to-hire, commensurate with experience.
Eligible for performance-based bonus.
