Our founding Fellows program supports 1,000 New York City students each year, from the summer after tenth grade to college graduation, boasting a 98% graduation rate within six years. About 93% of Fellows are first-generation college students, and 91% secure meaningful employment or graduate school admission within six months of graduating.
Our Career Fluency® Partnerships program enhances workforce and college readiness for 100,000 students across 20 cities. Our Opportunity Ignited program helps employers with intern matching and training, improving talent pipelines and workplace environments, training over 350 staff in 22 partner firms in its first five years.
The Job
The Coordinator, Curriculum and Facilitation will be responsible for working with the Curriculum & Facilitation Team and collaborating with other Fellows Program teams to develop inclusive and holistic in-person and virtual programming for OppNet’s six-year fellowship. The Coordinator will serve as the project manager to produce semesterly content for 12th grade and College Fellows, following OppNet’s curriculum review processes. The Coordinator will also facilitate workshops and provide support for other facilitators through co-leading class prep meetings and overseeing data collection of class feedback from students and staff. The Coordinator will support a caseload of 30-40 college students through one-on-one check-ins and general support. The Coordinator will work with outstanding young people, enjoy the responsibility to create and collaborate, and seize a real opportunity to create social change.
About You
Someone with three to five years of relevant experience, the ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys designing new learning experiences for young people, especially in topics of college access and success. The ideal candidate will be a skilled project manager and have strong attention to detail. The candidate must enjoy working directly with young people. The candidate must also balance working collaboratively and productively with colleagues across the Fellows Program team and broader organization with the ability to work independently with focus and a drive for quality and continual improvement. The ideal candidate will personally connect to the important work we do and actively participate in all organization-wide learning sessions.
What You Will Be Doing
Curriculum Development & Management (25%):
- Manage curriculum review and development for the College Success and College Guidance and Transition departments
- Work with the College Success Curriculum Lead and Assistant Director of College Success to develop curriculum maps and scope and sequence for the College Success Program at the start of each fiscal year
- Create and oversee the curriculum development schedules and co-lead Class Prep meetings for both departments
- Conduct audits of new and existing curriculum, including identifying needed updates and gaps in programming, and to support the connection between departmental workshops and core competencies
- Support creating virtual learning tools as needed and with posting virtual asynchronous content to UninterruptED
- Liaise with external facilitators for College Success and 12th grade Programming, if needed
Curriculum Team Support (15%):
- Support the Curriculum and Facilitation team in developing and enhancing OppNet’s in-person and virtual Career Fluency® curriculum by writing new curriculum, using feedback to revise existing curriculum, integrating student agency into curriculum, and ensuring alignment between pedagogical practices and curriculum development
- Support the processes for learning more about Fellows’ needs and interests so they can be built into OppNet’s curriculum development, facilitation, and accessibility resources
- Collect and analyze feedback from staff and students on lessons and curriculum from program intensives and weekly workshops
- Support program teams in the adoption and usage of new and existing virtual facilitation and learning tools, including OppNet’s UninterruptED platform
- Serve as a partner in shaping and executing OppNet’s Strategic Plan, called “OppNext”, to evolve the Fellows Program into a borough-based, hybrid programming model that includes virtual and in-person workshops
- Collaborate cross functionally to ensure that the programmatic onboarding to and content in the OppNet UninterruptED platform is consistent with OppNet’s values, curriculum, and pedagogical practice
Fellows Facilitation and Check-Ins (30%):
- Conduct 1:1 and group check-in calls and virtual campus visits with 30-40 college-level OppNet Fellows throughout the fall and spring semesters
- Attend professional development sessions and trainings focused on best practices to support College Fellows
- Facilitate, support with logistics, and/or shadow workshops across the hybrid Fellows program, with a focus on College Transition and Success programming
Overall Fellows Program Assistance (15%):
- Work with the team to provide high quality and inclusive programming and facilitation by revising and expanding our current assessment tools and rubrics in alignment with OppNet’s Equity Goals
- Support Recruitment efforts for new classes of Fellows by leading school visits, reading applications, collaborating on interview materials, and co-leading interviews
- Support large scale programming across the Fellows program including but not limited to, the annual College Trip, Summer Institute and Speed Networking
- Work alongside other program teams to pitch in, as necessary and to maintain relationships with students and get to know program-wide content
Organizational Learning, Development, and Program Reflection (15%):
- Participate in organization-wide learning sessions, working groups, and optional affinity groups
- Attend weekly team meetings, All Hands meetings, All Staff meetings, team retreats, and annual institution-wide retreat
Who we are looking for
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. college/university;
- Three to five years of work experience in the education/youth development field (especially with a high school/college audience and college access work);
- Demonstrated skill set in curriculum creation for college students, including experience writing and peer-reviewing lesson plans;
- Demonstrated ability to connect with high school and college students;
- Experience with learning management systems (LMS) or e-learning strongly preferred;
- Experience facilitating in-person and virtual workshops
- Experienced in project management, including:
- ability to set and meet deadlines

Requirements to Work for OppNet
OppNet requires that all employees are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including new hires, unless an exemption has been approved.
Hybrid In-Person: Candidates for this position must be available for regularly scheduled and ad hoc meetings that require a physical presence with NYC-based OppNet stakeholders regularly.

The hiring salary range for this role is $59,447- $65,000 and will be commensurate with experience.
