Location: Syracuse, NY
Position Type: Contract Assignment
Duration: 14 Weeks
Unit: Pediatric Bio-Behavioral Health Unit

Schedule & Shift Details

  • Shift: Evening / Variable

  • Shift Timing: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM

  • Schedule: 5 shifts per week

  • Hours: 8.5 hours per shift | 42.5 hours per week

  • Weekends/Holidays: Every other weekend and select holidays required

Compensation

  • Gross Weekly Pay: $1,203

  • W2 Rate: $17/hour

  • Stipend: $525/week

  • Local Pay: $23/hour

Job Summary

A well-established hospital in Syracuse, New York is seeking a dedicated Mental Therapy Aide to support pediatric patients within a Bio-Behavioral Health Unit. This role involves assisting with daily patient care, maintaining a safe therapeutic environment, and collaborating closely with the clinical care team during evening shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing therapeutic and supportive care to pediatric behavioral health patients

  • Support patients with daily activities while ensuring safety and dignity

  • Observe, monitor, and report patient behaviors and changes in condition

  • Assist nursing and clinical staff in maintaining a structured therapeutic environment

  • Implement unit protocols for patient safety and crisis prevention

  • Accurately document patient interactions and care activities in the EMR system

  • Communicate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare team members

  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of Mental Health or Psychiatric experience (2+ years preferred)

  • Pediatric behavioral health experience preferred

  • Prior inpatient or acute care experience preferred

  • CPR Certification (required)

  • Ability to perform patient care duties in a fast-paced acute care environment

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills

  • EMR experience required
