Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Behavioral Health Registered Nurse (RN) to provide safe, therapeutic, and evidence-based nursing care to patients in an inpatient behavioral health setting. This role requires strong assessment skills, crisis intervention capabilities, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary mental health care team.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients with behavioral and mental health conditions

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing monitoring

• Administer medications safely and monitor therapeutic responses

• Implement and support individualized treatment and care plans

• Utilize de-escalation techniques and maintain a safe therapeutic environment

• Monitor patient behavior and intervene appropriately during crises

• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation using electronic medical records

• Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and nursing staff

• Adhere to safety protocols, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements

Required Qualifications

• Active New York State RN license (must be in hand at time of submission)

• Minimum of 1 year of Behavioral Health or related nursing experience (preferred)

• Ability to work night shifts and every other weekend

• Strong communication, assessment, and critical-thinking skills

• Ability to manage challenging behaviors in a calm and professional manner

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior inpatient behavioral health experience

• Experience using electronic medical record systems

• First-time travelers are welcome
