About the Role

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you'll create a safe, supportive environment while helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities enjoy life to the fullest. From game nights to community outings, you'll be the person who turns ordinary moments into memorable experiences.

What You'll Do

  • Bring the fun: Plan and join activities like arts and crafts, music sessions, baking, movie nights, and local outings.
  • Create meaningful experiences: Encourage hobbies and interests that make each day exciting and rewarding.
  • Provide direct care and support: Assist with daily living activities such as eating, bathing, dressing, and mobility.
  • Ensure safety and dignity: Monitor health and well-being, prevent abuse or neglect, and respect each person's rights and choices.
  • Administer medications: Follow NY State and agency guidelines for safe medication administration (site-based only).
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment: Perform light housekeeping and ensure spaces are welcoming and hazard-free.
  • Document everything accurately: Complete daily notes, attendance records, and timesheets on time-your documentation matters for quality care and compliance.
  • Communicate and collaborate: Work closely with families, supervisors, and team members to share updates and address concerns.
  • Support people in living their best lives-full of choices, independence, and fun!

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Caring, dependable, and passionate about helping others.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable with physical tasks (lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, reaching).
  • Valid NYS driver's license and clean driving record.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Experience with individuals with developmental disabilities (1 year preferred, or 6 months with specialized training).
  • Willing to complete certifications like First Aid/CPR and Medication Administration
