About the Role
Rapid Rehousing for Young Adults is a solution to homelessness designed to help young adults aged 18-24 quickly exit homelessness to permanent housing. The program provides rental assistance and support services that are tailored to the unique needs of the young person. The Employment and Housing Navigator is key in helping youth connect with jobs, job readiness training and continuing education through developing contacts and networks in the public and private sector.
What You’ll Do
- Assist youth in obtaining and maintaining employment that is consistent with their individual vocational goals.
- Assess youth’s vocational functioning on an ongoing basis utilizing background information and work experiences.
- Conduct job development and job search activities directed towards positions that are individualized to the interests and uniqueness of the population served.
- Help youth to develop an individualized career development and employment plan.
- Assist youth to create a portfolio i.e., resume, cover letter, a list of references.
- Track employment placement outcomes and retention for participants and utilize data to improve the quality of services provided.
- Assist the Senior Housing Specialist with Data Entry as relates to HPD, NYCHA, HRA CAPS System.
- Assist the Senior Housing Specialist with identifying apartments for youth.
- Schedule and Accompany Youth for apartment viewings.
- Develop relationships with potential landlords, brokers and agents.
- Act as a liaison between landlords and youth once they move into the apartments.
- Conduct apartment inspections and ensure compliance with funder mandates.
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college preferred.
Your Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college preferred.
- Two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to employment or education development.
- Working knowledge of NYC workforce development systems.
- Excellent communication, planning, organizational and multi-tasking abilities.
- Ability to motivate participants toward full-time, entry-level employment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel.
- Prior experience with facilitating training preferred.
- Spanish speaking is a plus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday in our Headquarters at 1333 Broadway office in Midtown Manhattan. Work hours options are 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, 9:30 am - 5:30 pm, 10 am - 6 pm.
Additional Requirements:
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Ability to work in-person in New York City (NY) for at least 3 days or more per week.
- Ability to travel to other Rising Ground sites (if required)
