Location - Syracuse, NY

Shift: Night Shift

Position Overview

A healthcare facility is seeking experienced Night Shift Travel RNs for Adult Oncology / Medical-Surgical Telemetry units. The ideal candidate will have strong oncology and acute care experience, be comfortable with telemetry monitoring, IV starts, and lab draws, and be able to function independently with minimal orientation.

This role requires flexibility in scheduling, including every other weekend and major seasonal holidays. Requests for excessive time off or fixed schedules will not be approved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care in an acute care Oncology / Med-Surg Telemetry setting

  • Perform nursing assessments and deliver patient care with minimal supervision

  • Initiate and manage IV therapy and draw laboratory specimens

  • Monitor and interpret telemetry data

  • Administer medications and treatments per physician orders

  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record system

  • Adhere to patient safety standards, infection control practices, and clinical protocols

Qualifications

  • Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license

  • BLS certification (must be current and maintain recertification)

  • Minimum 1.5 years of recent acute care RN experience (within the past 2 years)

  • Minimum 1 year of Oncology nursing experience

  • Experience working in hospitals of similar size and acuity required for travel consideration

  • Ability to independently:

    • Read and interpret telemetry

    • Start IVs

    • Perform blood draws

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in Level 1 or Level 2 Trauma Centers

  • Experience using EPIC Electronic Medical Records

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and critical-thinking skills
