Reports To: Director of Agronomy/E/W Superintendent
Supervises: Subordinates and seasonal hires
Job Description: Maintain golf courses and landscaping around the course, clubhouse and other club facilities, including parking lots.
Education and/or Experience
- 2 to 4 year degree, or certificate in turf management, or related field at an accredited university or in the process of obtaining
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations
- Individuals must have 1-2 years golf course maintenance experience
- Experience with hand watering, chemical and fertilizer applications and calibration
- Possess a positive attitude
- Passion for the turf industry,
- A strong desire to learn and be a team player.
Job Tasks/Duties
- Plants and maintains ornamental shrubs and trees.
- Trims and feeds shrubs and trees; removes cuttings.
- Maintains landscape beds around clubhouse and club grounds.
- Rakes and blows leaves.
- Mows greens, tees, C/A by operating walk-behind turf equipment.
- Mows fairways and roughs by operating large scale ride on turf equipment
- Operates tractors and various implements
- Prepares and lays sod.
- Prepares soil plant beds and establishes plantings by seed or transplants.
- Rakes bunkers.
- Loads and unloads materials.
- Repairs and maintains driving range tees.
- Cleans equipment used in practice area.
- Aerifies and spikes greens.
- Digs holes and trenches to maintain or construct irrigation and drainage lines.
- Installs pipe and backfills excavations.
- Empties garbage cans.
- Attends staff meetings.
- Participates in perticide and fertilizer applications
- Supervises small crews, typically of 4-8 individuals throughout the property
- Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the Director of Agronomy .
Licenses and Special Requirements
- Valid driver's license.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Able to meet and perform physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
- Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling.
- Must be able to continuously sit, stand and walk for a minimum of 8 hours.
- Must be able to lift to 100 pounds and perform strenuous work.
- Must be able to bend, kneel, push and pull over the course of a shift.
- All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Oak Hill's appearance standards.
- Will be required to perform job functions outdoors and be exposed to sun, heat, humidity and other elements.
- Must be able to work a flexible shift that includes early mornings, nights, weekends, holidays, split shifts, and extended shifts.
- Must be 18 years of age.
General Information
Scheduled Shifts: Full time, position. Days and hours based on club operations.
Wage: Competitive hourly wage based on experience
