Job Description

Annual Salary: $220k-$290k (varies depending on years of experience)

A mission-driven, community-focused healthcare organization is seeking a seasoned psychiatric provider to support clinical leadership within its behavioral health division. The organization offers integrated primary and behavioral health services through a network of community-based centers and mobile units, with a strong commitment to health equity and access for all.

The Associate Medical Director will provide psychiatric care to patients while supporting the strategic and clinical oversight of behavioral health services. This role includes direct patient care, clinical consultation, quality improvement, and administrative leadership. The ideal candidate will be passionate about integrated care, team-based collaboration, and improving outcomes for underserved populations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and crisis intervention at one or more clinical sites.
  • Serve as a consultant to primary care and behavioral health providers across the network.
  • Participate in emergency psychiatric assessments and coordinate appropriate interventions.
  • Collaborate with clinical leadership to support quality assurance, peer review, and policy development.
  • Supervise and mentor psychiatric nurse practitioners and other behavioral health staff.
  • Assist in onboarding and training of new behavioral health providers.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and leadership committees.
  • Monitor provider schedules and support operational improvements in service delivery.
  • Represent behavioral health in internal and external quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain compliance with clinical documentation standards and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Board-certified or board-eligible psychiatrist with active licensure in New York State.
  • Experience in community mental health or integrated care settings preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a clinical environment.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and team-building skills.
  • Commitment to culturally responsive, trauma-informed care.
