Volt is immediately hiring Structures Engineering Technician in Rochester, NY

The Assembly Integration and Test Focus Factory of Space and Airborne Systems is looking for an experienced manufacturing technician to join the precision structures fabrication team. Seeking candidate with composite material background and the ability to work within tight tolerance specifications.

  • The scope is focused on the timely execution of assigned tasks with a quality mindset.
  • Will work as individual contributor and in a team environment, fabricating, building, handling, repairing, and integrating complex, one of a kind composite parts/assemblies in a low volume setting.
  • This role involves working directly with engineers on the design, development, and fabrication of new and existing products.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, and a minimum of 2-4 years of prior relevant experience or experience in manufacturing and/or prototyping environment
  • Knowledge of measuring equipment (verniers, calipers, scales, etc.)
  • Experience with cutting equipment (scizzors/exacto blades etc.)
  • Read engineering drawings/blueprints/schematics and detailed work instructions.
  • Work with a variety of hand tools and specialized equipment.
  • Requires computer efficiency (MS Office/Word/Excel)
  • Have experience with Working with very fragile and precise assemblies.
  • Perform work in manufacturing and/or prototyping environment.
  • Maintain accurate records and manufacturing documentation.
  • Assist with identifying problems and suggest solutions.
  • Adhere to established policies, procedures, and proper labor charging practices.
  • Willingness to work overtime, shift work, weekends, holidays and some travel.


Preferred Additional Skills:

  • 2 Years post-Secondary/Associates Degree.
  • Aerospace or Defense industry experience.
  • Experience with Laser Tracker or CMM measurement tools.
  • Experience with shop equipment including but not limited to Mills, Lathes, Grinders, and red precision measuring equipment.
  • MIG/TIG welding experience.
  • Lean Manufacturing practices.


This is a 6 Month full time Contract or Contract to hire opportunity.

Pay Range :
$28.00 - $32 per hour.

*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
