As a Lead Medical Assistant, you will tackle a wide variety of interesting challenges, and uncover key insights that will drive positive outcomes for our patients.

MHRS employs a range of nationally renowned physicians and specialists to perform minimally-invasive procedures for our patients, including Pain Management, Advanced Interventional Treatments, Regenerative Medicine, and Integrative Wellness Therapies. Responsibilities:
- Acts as a lead expert for other Medical Assistants, Front Desk Staff, Physicians, etc.
- Trains other Medical Assistants in the practice.
- Assists the Practice Supervisors and/or Practice Manager, with quality or process improvement initiatives to help streamline clinic operations.
- Provides advice and guidance to other MAs regarding office practices and operating procedures.
- Assists the Practice Supervisor and/or Practice Manager with workload management to ensure each Physician is effectively supported and able to operate at the top of their scope.
- Acts as a back-up scheduler if needed.
- Orders, receives, and stores supplies in the supply room.
- Reviews incoming order forms for proper coding, quantities requested, and authorized approvals, inspects and verifies supplies received against invoicing and packing slip; initiates requests for vendor corrections.
- Accurately rooms patients, obtains & records vital signs, patient history, and reason for seeking care.
- Accurately processes and records telephone messages in patient medical records and according to policy.
- Assists in preparing prescription refills for providers and according to policy.
- Maintains patient confidentiality, written and verbal.
- Communicates effectively and in an attentive manner with every patient encounter.
- Verifies the patient's understanding of the purpose of the visit.
- Accurately documents all care provided and procedures performed within the patient’s medical record.
- Accurately records patient charges for medications, supplies, equipment, labs and procedures.
- Performs other clerical duties and tasks to improve provider productivity and clinic workflow as assigned, such as completing patient visit records, maintaining departmental logs, takes leads on special projects as assigned
- Provides patient care in a safe, comfortable, and private environment.
- Assists the providers with patient education that pertain to their ongoing care:
- Laboratory, radiology or procedural preparations
- Prepares and/or coordinates referrals as directed by the provider.
- Cleans exam rooms and other patient care areas between each patient and maintains supply logs for all exam rooms and restrooms.
- Maintains work areas, exam rooms, supplies, equipment, medications, immunizations updated and stocked appropriately
- Documents work processes as required.
- Ensures mistakes or inconsistencies in medical records are corrected in order to reduce/eliminate errors.
- Alerts provider when medical record is incomplete, completes on behalf of provider if needed.
- Collects, organizes, and catalogs data for quality reporting.
- Assists in tracking patient follow-up and compliance.
- Performs other duties as assigned, such as assisting with orienting/training new employees, transporting equipment or patients, stocking shelves, and/or ordering supplies.
- Performs appropriate basic and/or routine regular delegated medical functions as directed and within appropriate scope of practice as inferred by knowledge, skill level, and Lex Med clinic guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Energetic, challenge-driven, personable, and responsible with a professional demeanor.
- Dependable and punctual.
- Must be knowledgeable in medical terminology.
- Strong computer skills, and EMR experience.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Prior experience working in a fast-paced, high turnover operating room, or procedure suite setting is important.
- Prior experience in pain management and experience as an OR tech/assistant is desirable.
- Spanish speaking is a plus.
