Overview
Were seeking a highly skilled Commercial Refrigeration Technician to join a growing team supporting clients across a wide range of commercial and industrial environments. In this hands-on field role, youll lead service, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of commercial refrigeration systems. Youll serve as a senior-level technician and mentor, ensuring high standards in safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technician with deep technical knowledge, strong troubleshooting ability, and leadership skills to contribute to complex, high-demand refrigeration service projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead diagnosis and repair of commercial refrigeration systems, including compressors, evaporators, condensers, and electrical controls.
- Conduct preventative maintenance, performance testing, and system inspections.
- Perform service repairs on ice machines, coolers, and freezers using standard practices (Superheat, Subcooling, Delta T analysis).
- Replace defective components and ensure system reliability and code compliance.
- Communicate clearly with dispatch and clients to ensure timely service completion and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate service records and provide detailed documentation of all work performed.
- Supervise and mentor junior technicians and apprentices, sharing best practices and training support.
- Ensure team adherence to safety protocols, company policies, and industry standards.
Background Profile
- High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or technical certification preferred.
- EPA Universal Certification (Required)
- Minimum 7+ years of experience servicing commercial refrigeration systems.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- OSHA 10 or 30 Certification preferred.
- Experience with field diagnostics, refrigerant handling, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including on-call and emergency shifts as needed.
- Strong customer service mindset and clear communication skills.
- Intermediate computer skills (e.g., work order software, reporting tools).
Preferred
- Experience in high-demand commercial environments such as distribution centers, healthcare, universities, or airports.
- Experience with modern refrigeration control systems and IoT-based diagnostics.
- Leadership experience or formal mentoring/training of junior technicians.
Physical & Behavioral Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and perform physical duties such as climbing, kneeling, crawling, and standing for long periods.
- Strong reasoning skills to solve complex technical problems in the field.
- Comfortable reading technical schematics, manuals, and instructions.
