Production Manager at Shakúff
Shakuff is the leading custom lighting partner for high-end residential clients and interior design studios. We recently expanded our production space into a factory in Port Jervis, NY, and we are seeking a Production Manager to join our growing team.
About the Role
The ideal candidate is a proactive, self-motivated leader with strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills. While experience in production management is preferred, candidates must have experience working in a production environment to some capacity and be comfortable managing timelines, materials, team workflows as well as hiring and training.
This role requires a solid understanding of vendor sourcing and negotiation, especially with international suppliers, as well as experience managing and maintaining vendor relationships for various manufacturing components. The right person will take ownership of the full production cycle, from procurement through to final delivery, with a strong focus on quality and efficiency.
We’re also looking for someone eager to help grow and develop a team, providing leadership and structure to support a productive and positive work environment. The Production Manager will report directly to the Owner and work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless and scalable production operation.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage the production team with a hands-on, people-first approach.
• Ensure production timelines are met and implement strategies to improve workflow efficiency.
• Oversee the full production process, maintaining consistent quality and craftsmanship.
• Conduct hiring, onboarding, training, and performance reviews for production staff.
• Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture; and supporting their professional growth.
• Collaborate with the Executive Team on scheduling and HR coordination.
• Generate and prioritize production work based on sales orders and deadlines.
• Maintain and manage a comprehensive vendor list, both domestic and international.
• Source and negotiate with vendors, especially overseas suppliers, for custom or specialty manufacturing parts.
• Track inventory, forecast supply needs, and handle purchasing of all parts and supplies.
• Conduct thorough quality control checks on incoming materials and finished products to ensure they meet Shakuff’s high standards.
• Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient production space; uphold safety protocols.
• Work cross-functionally with Sales, Customer Service, and Engineering teams to ensure production aligns with business needs and client expectations.
• Oversee special projects from start to finish, ensuring effective execution.
• Identify operational bottlenecks and implement innovative, scalable solutions.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
• 3+ years of experience in production management, operations, or a related leadership role.
• Proven leadership skills with a focus on team development and motivation.
• Experience conducting interviews, hiring, and managing team performance.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities; capable of handling multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, solution-oriented mindset.
• Experience sourcing and negotiating with overseas vendors for manufacturing components.
• Familiarity with inventory systems, production scheduling, and procurement processes.
• Basic understanding of electrical systems and lighting fixtures preferred and comfortable using modern business tools and software.
• Punctual, dependable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Schedule & Compensation
Hours:
• Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (30-minute unpaid lunch break)
• Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Compensation:
• Competitive salary, paid bi-weekly.
