LP Seafood & Specialty is a highly respected NYC-based seafood and specialty distribution company, providing exceptional quality products and personalized service to the region’s top restaurants, hotels, and specialty retailers. We are seeking a skilled Fish Cutter for our NIGHT SHIFT—proposed schedule of 9PM – 5AM, five days a week with Saturday night off and one other non-consecutive night off a week.

Job Description/Responsibilities:

This is a NIGHT SHIFT position.

Removing scales and bones, gutting, cleaning and pin boning fish
-
Transferring finished products and raw material around the site and warehouse

Analyzing quality of fish by season, sizing, color, and texture

Executing safe food practices involving perishables items
-
Receiving, producing, consolidating and packing seafood orders
-
Check packages for correct labeling to ensure an accuracy of all order fulfillment and production requirements

Assist in shut down procedures including scrapping of all goods not used for production

Maintain compliance with food and safety rules policies and procedures in producing and packaging goods.

Maintaining a clean and sanitary work area

Demonstrating ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Communicating effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
-
Must be comfortable in warehouse/production environment in Hunts Point facility
-
Ability to meet production and accuracy standards in a fast-paced work environment
-
Able to stand for long period of times, ability to perform twisting, turning and bending
-
Able to bend and lift 30-50lbs.

Ability to work in climate from 32 to 38 degrees

Comfortable and able to work an 8 to 12-hour shift (hours per day are based on business need)

Able to communicate in English. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

Strong communication skills, good work ethic, solid team player

Basic reading and math skills

Detail Oriented
Education, Licenses, and Experience:
-
High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
-
Seafood or Meat processing experience (preferred)
-
General knowledge of fish products and seafood a plus, but not mandatory
