Now Hiring: Maitre D’ at Little Ruby’s – West Village
Pay: $22/hour
Location: West Village, NYC
Little Ruby’s is a neighborhood favorite in the heart of the West Village, known for its warm hospitality and vibrant Aussie-inspired dining experience. We’re looking for a polished, organized, and guest-focused Maitre D’ to be the face of our front-of-house team and help ensure a smooth and welcoming service every shift.
Role Overview
As Maitre D’, you will manage the guest arrival experience, oversee reservations and walk-ins, and serve as a key point of coordination between the front- and back-of-house teams. You’ll help optimize seating flow, greet every guest with genuine warmth, and ensure the host stand runs efficiently throughout each shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and check in guests with professionalism and hospitality
- Manage the reservation system and maximize seating efficiency
- Strategically accommodate walk-ins while honoring existing bookings
- Answer guest inquiries and incoming phone calls promptly and clearly
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the entrance and host stand
- Ensure menu books are printed, up to date, and prepped for service
- Set up and break down the front desk area, including opening/closing side work
- Provide floor team with initial table setups as needed
- Participate in daily pre-service meetings and training sessions
- Maintain a calm, focused demeanor in a fast-paced environment
- Report any damage or breakage to management promptly
- Collaborate with the management team and lead by example
What We’re Looking For
- Previous Maitre D’ or host experience in a high-volume restaurant or lounge
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal communication and a polished, professional demeanor
- Familiarity with reservation platforms (Resy, OpenTable, etc.)
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively under pressure
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Willingness to learn, support teammates, and deliver gracious hospitality
