The Glen Oaks Club, a premier club in Long Island, NY, is seeking a Seasonal Tennis Professional from April to November. The Glen Oaks Club is known for providing its members with an exceptional and personalized experience. For nearly 100 years the Glen Oaks Club has been evolving to maintain its stature as a home away from home for its member families.
Summary: Provides the ultimate tennis experience by providing the highest quality tennis instruction and customer service; interacts with members and guests through teaching lessons, clinics and camps, as well as promoting programs and guiding equipment selections. Serves as an ambassador for the tennis program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Teaches various tennis programs, including junior programs, lessons, special events, and clinics.
- Provides instruction (private and group) for all levels and ages of players.
- Assists in the promotion of and execution of tennis clinics, private lessons, special events, and programs to attract and maintain members’/guests’ tennis interests. Assist in court maintenance and overall upkeep of tennis area with a positive “can-do” attitude.
- Take an interest in members' well-being on and off the court.
- Provide quick response times to Tennis Director communications.
- Answer phone calls and book courts using club software.
Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Requires skill level equivalent to a minimum 7.0 UTR rating.
- Demonstrated ability to naturally motivate members to return and stay engaged in tennis programs.
- Pickleball instruction experience is a plus.
- Ability to string racquets strongly preferred.
- Skilled in operating court scheduling technology and providing courteous phone support.
- Ability to verbally communicate well in English and in writing.
- Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions in English.
- Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers, and members.
- Must be able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Possess hospitality skills including: kindness, optimism, work-ethic, curious intelligence, empathy, self-awareness, and integrity.
Education and/or Experience:
- Proven 1-year minimum experience working as a Tennis Professional/ Coach.
- USTA NetGeneration Certification is preferred as a condition of employment.
- Previous country club experience preferred.
- Experience teaching tennis lessons to adults and juniors of various levels on Long Island.
