Summary:

We are looking for an entrepreneurial and driven Editorial Manager, Contemporary & Genre Fiction to help us execute our mission to bring the best new fiction forward. This person will manage and coordinate our process for reviewing a wide array of commercial and genre fiction, gather insights, and make recommendations to the Editorial Director. This is a great opportunity for someone with a discerning sensibility for the best commercial fiction, a passion for championing emerging authors, and the ability to manage a process effectively.

What you’ll do…

This job requires a blend of exquisite taste, industry relations, and project management.

  • Identify relevant upcoming titles through industry relationships and news, and other sources.
  • Assign titles to readers and review and synthesize feedback.
  • Read a high volume of titles across multiple categories of commercial and genre fiction yourself.
  • Prepare slates of recommendations to the Editorial Director and clearly articulate your view on why these titles should or should not be featured.
  • Understand your personal taste, the preferences of various segments of our membership, and be able to articulate and differentiate where these do and do not intersect.
  • Serve as an effective industry relations professional by leveraging existing relationships and building new relationships to identify new opportunities and represent the brand in publishing circles.
  • Potentially take on other areas of Editorial work that might include: podcast content production; industry presentations and partnerships; book production operations; website content, or other areas.

About you:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in an editorial, content development, agency, or other entertainment industry-related role.
  • Deep familiarity with current pipelines and trends in commercial and genre fiction.
  • Existing relationships across relevant industry players and the ability to use those relationships to achieve business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience operating and improving a business process in an organized manner.
  • Ability to create organized and well-formatted decks, memos, and other work products and present to stakeholders.

Base Salary Range: $90,000 - $130,000
