Overview

We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Biller to join our team. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of laboratory billing, CPT/HCPCS codes, ICD-10 coding, and payer-specific billing guidelines. This role is responsible for accurate claim submission, payment posting, resolving denials, and ensuring timely reimbursement for laboratory services.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit laboratory claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers.
• Verify accuracy of CPT/HCPCS, ICD-10, and modifiers prior to claim submission.
• Review requisitions, results, and documentation for billing compliance.
• Work rejections and denials; correct and resubmit claims as needed.
• Follow up on unpaid or underpaid claims to ensure timely reimbursement.
• Post payments, adjustments, and reconcile accounts.
• Communicate with labs, providers, and insurance companies regarding claim issues.
• Maintain knowledge of payer policies, NCCI edits, LCD/NCD rules, and coverage criteria.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all billing regulations.
• Generate and review reports to identify trends, issues, or missing charges.

Qualifications

• Minimum 13 years of laboratory billing or medical billing experience required.
• Strong understanding of lab-related CPT codes (e.g., chemistry, toxicology, molecular, pathology).
• Experience with EHR/EMR and billing software (specify if needed).
• Knowledge of claim lifecycle, EOBs, ERA, and electronic claim submission.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
