About the Role:

As an EMT-B (Emergency Medical Technician-Basic), you will play a crucial role in providing emergency medical care to patients in various situations, including accidents, medical emergencies, and natural disasters. Your primary responsibility will be to assess patients' conditions, provide basic life support, and transport them safely to the emergency department. You will work closely with other emergency responders, ensuring effective communication and teamwork to deliver high-quality care. This position requires quick thinking, compassion, and the ability to perform under pressure, as you will often be the first point of contact for patients in distress. Minimum Qualifications:

  • New York State EMT-B certification.
  • BLS CPR Card.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in emergency medical services or a related field.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond promptly to emergency calls and assess the situation to determine the necessary medical care.
  • Provide basic life support, including CPR, wound care, and administering oxygen as needed.
  • Safely transport patients to the emergency department while monitoring their vital signs and providing ongoing care.
  • Document patient information and care provided during transport for accurate medical records.
  • Collaborate with other emergency personnel, including paramedics and law enforcement, to ensure a coordinated response.
  • Utilize New York State Collaborative Protocols to render treatment to patients.

Skills:

The required skills for this position include strong communication abilities, which are essential for interacting with patients, their families, and other emergency responders.
