Responsibilities for Senior Conflicts Attorney:

  • Lead and mentor a team of conflicts analysts; oversee conflict check reports, including corporate family research.
  • Review conflicts reports on new business, laterals, and firm hires; provide clearance strategies and resolutions.
  • Draft and maintain engagement letters, ethical walls, legal screens, and other risk-related documentation.
  • Handle responses to subpoenas and regulatory inquiries; partner with internal teams for external negotiations/litigation.
  • Draft, update, and implement firm-wide risk policies to ensure compliance with ethics rules and legal obligations.
  • Conduct legal research and provide counsel on professional responsibility, employment law, and other regulatory issues across jurisdictions.
  • Collaborate with Business Development, Information Security, Finance, and other departments to mitigate operational risk.

Qualifications for Senior Conflicts Attorney:

  • JD and 5+ years of conflicts/risk experience at a top-tier law firm.
  • Active New York Bar admission required.
  • Strong command of U.S. conflicts rules, especially the New York Rules of Professional Conduct.
  • Experience with InTapp or similar business intake/conflict systems preferred.
  • Ability to make sound, risk-based decisions in high-pressure environments.
  • Excellent research, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Track record of collaborating across teams and working within a global firm structure.
