Job Description:
Full-time installer to support the construction of residential and commercial gardens. The role involves physical outdoor labor along with occasional shop manufacturing. Compensation will range from $25-$45/hr depending on qualifications and experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manufacture and assemble high-quality custom architectural elements and structures in wood, masonry and metal
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches and to understand project specifications
- Determine tolerances and alignments
- Operate all woodworking machinery, finishing equipment, power tools, and hand tools
- Work with different materials, including stone pavers, metals, hard and softwoods
- Perform exact measurements, ensure precise installation of hardware and other elements
- Perform wood finishing, sanding, staining, and applying finishes
- Monitor quality across the team and ensure each piece is fabricated to a high standard
- Plan and execute fabrication strategies; oversee and manage junior fabricators and assistants
- Ensure safe work practices are adhered to and follow all safety policies and procedures
- Maintain a clean and tidy work area and facilitate required repairs and maintenance to all equipment
To succeed in this role, you must have:
- Training from a relevant program such as woodworking, millwork, carpentry OR an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience
- Experience as a lead-hand or senior installer
- A passion for challenging fabrication and tight tolerances
- The ability to self-motivate and be schedule conscious
- A strong attention to detail and amazing problem-solving skills
- Competency in reading and interpreting blueprints/drawings
- A thorough understanding of health and safety principles and practices
- A willingness to collaborate with a team and work independently when needed
- An in-depth understanding of fabrication processes and manufacturing/building materials
- Experience with materials like wood, solid surfaces, fabric, acrylic, glass, leather
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends
